Rosslare Rangers v Wexford Bohemians

Rosslare Rangers opened their home account with a hard fought 0-2 defeat to the hands for Wexford Bohs. In the early exchanges both defences were on top. Rangers Cathal Furlong and Michael Burke were solid starting off with the energetic Eddie Lawlor and Elliot Malone the early Bohs threats to the Rangers back four.
At the other end Colin Bent and Roy Doyle kept the ever green Ian OLeary, Declan Colfer and Oscar Pitt to only half chances.  Mid way through the first half Elliot Malone broke the offside trap to slot past the Rangers keeper, Mark Boyce. 1-0 Bohs.
The second half begun as the first half did, and Rangers pushing hard for the equaliser the game opened up more. Noel Boutler, probably had Rangers best chance of the game, found himself free at the edge of the box but he snatched at his shot and sent it badly wide. Ranges kept on pushing which made them open to a counter attack from Bohs.
Ten minutes from the end Bohs Derek Bergin got Bohs’s second of the night finishing from a close angle. Rangers had a couple of chances near the end but failed to convert any of them, this was summed up by a Paul Culleton free kick at the end which ended up in row Z. It’s early days yet and there will be more twists and turns in this group to come.
