Corach Ramblers v Kilmore Utd

Corach Ramblers welcomed Kilmore United to Danescaslte, in the opening game of the 2019 season. A large crowd were in attendance and they were treated to plenty of goals on the night. Corach dominated the early exchanges and came close with shots from Aidan Qulligan, Barry Sinnott and Wayne Whitty. Kilmore looked most dangerous from set pieces and had a few chances cleared early on. Alan Diskin broke the deadlock on 20 minutes when his shot caught out the Kilmore keeper who was off his line and couldn’t get his hand to the dipping ball over his head. Soon after it was 2-0 after more good work from Corach saw Mark Colfer square the ball from the end line into Alan Diskin who had an easy tap in. Kilmore came very close with a good free kick just before the break but it sailed just wide of the left top corner. The second half saw Kilmore come much more into the game with James Lowery being instrumental in the midfield. They came closest on 45 minutes when a long-range effort hit the crossbar. The youthful Marty Keane was introduced into the Corach midfield to stem the Kilmore revival and this allowed Corach to get more possession of the ball again. On 55 minutes they made it 3-0 when some good team play saw Alan Diskin square a ball to the incoming Darren Walsh who finished cooly from the edge of the box into the left top corner. This essentially ended the game as a contest and Corach dominated as the Kilmore team all but accepted defeat. More goals were to come as another cross, this time from Aidan Qulligan was met by a Darren Walsh header to make it 4-0. With 10 minutes remaining Corach introduced Jay (Big Budda) McCutcheon and he bagged 2 more goals in quick succession with assists coming from Mark Colfer and Niall Murphy. Kilmore will rue the missed chances early which could have changed the course of the game but Corach always looked stronger and were deserved winners on the night.
