It’s knockout from here on in and Friday saw the Cup and Shield Quarter finals taking place.
In the Cup, Forth Celtic travelled to Curracloe and were far too strong for the home side putting in a dominant display in powering to a convincing 5 nil win. Tom Elmes with a brace, Kevin Price, Will Doyle and Michael o Brien adding a goal each.
Fastnet hosted Courtown and after a very entertaining game, which went all the way to extra time and penalties, it was Courtown who prevailed 4-2 on spot kicks. Fastnet had a chance to win it in extra time but Joey Colfer saw his penalty saved by the keeper. Declan Colfer scored for Fastnet in regular time after Paddy Bergin had put Courtown ahead early in the game. The remaining quarter final has been moved to Monday night and sees Kilmore host local rivals Corach in what should be the tie of the round. Campile received a bye into the Semi Finals.
In Shield action Cushinstown hosted Arklow and after a high scoring encounter it was the Wicklow side who made the long journey home with their Semi-final place secured after prevailing 4-3. Keith Katus, Sean Mc Grath and Ian Gaffney scored for the home side. Willie Kavanagh with 2, Cliff Whelan and George Byrne with the goals to seal the win for Arklow.
Duncannon hosted Enniscorthy in the next quarter final and after a close first half, Enniscorthy went ahead just on half time and doubled their lead early in the second half. Duncannon hit back immediately with a wonderful individual goal from Keith Donnelly who went on a fourty yard run to chip the ball over the advancing keeper. They then hit the post in the search of a equaliser, before 2 late goals sealed a convincing 4-1 win for a Enniscorthy side brimming with talent all over the field. Their scorers on the night where Willy Hudson with 3 and John Hudson with the other 1.
The remaining Shield Quarter Final will also take place on Monday the 11th as Adamstown will host Taghmon. After this game the draw will take place for the Semi Finals. Next Friday night we will have the League Quarter Finals with some fantastic games in store.
