Week 3 Round Up

Now into the third week of games, the Over-35 soccer league action continued last Friday night, with all games played in a firm, competitive but fair manner.

Group A is starting to take shape as Rosslare now lead the way with maximum points, closely followed by Kilmore and Campile.

Rosslare hosted Corach, and the away side are still without a win as two goals from Paul Culleton saw the home side prevail 2-1 after a hard-fought game, with Gary Morton replying for Corach.

Cushinstown hosted Campile and, after a fiercely competitive game, the away side left with the points thanks to goals from Alan Myler and Johnny Keating, with Cathal Somers replying for the home side.

In the last game in this group, Fastnet entertained Duncannon. Defences were on top in windy conditions, and it took a goal in the last minute of normal time from Mark Corish to snatch a winner for Fastnet. Duncannon will feel very unlucky not to leave with a point at least after a really entertaining game.

In Group B, early pace-setters Enniscorthy had to come from behind late on to snatch a draw against Courtown.

Murt McKeown scored on the double for the home side, with Damien Grannell and Wes Fitzpatrick replying for Courtown. Both Teams remain unbeaten so far.

Arklow made the long journey to Murrintown to play Forth Celtic, but it was a worthwhile trip as a goal from Willie Kavanagh sent them back home with all three points.

In the groups other game, Adamstown and Curracloe played out a 1-1 draw. Dylan Whitty was on target for the home side, with Aidan Clarke ensuring the visitors returned home with a share of the spoils.
